History of ApolloTech

  • In 2023, the Ministry of Environment conducted the first-ever selection of outstanding companies for sustainable green remediation technologies and management practices, as part of Green Sustainable Resilience Remediation (GSRR) they have been promoting since 2012.
Six exemplary remediation sites were recognized based on comprehensive evaluations including sustainability, energy efficiency, low carbon emissions, and overall effectiveness. ApolloTech are proud to have won awards for two of our sites, positioning us as leaders among all participating companies.

2023

Won Two GSRR Awards

  • To facilitate the soil and groundwater contamination remediation at CPC Kaohsiung Refinery to accommodate TSMC’s new plant, ApolloTech was awarded the contract to carry out Project B of Zone 4. Employing advanced techniques and management expertise, ApolloTech successfully completed the project and achieved delisting in April 2024.

2021

Successfully Remediated Taiwan's Largest Contamination Site
(Planned Development Site for the TSMC Kaohsiung Plant)

  • Veolia, a global leader in environmental services, acquired ApolloTech to strengthen its operations in Taiwan. This partnership has broadened our service capabilities to include energy conservation, carbon footprint reduction, and circular economy initiatives, enabling ApolloTech to deliver comprehensive ecological transformation services aimed at achieving carbon neutrality.

2019

Became Member of Veolia

  • Confronted with the complexities of remediating Dense Non-Aqueous Phase Liquids (DNAPL) in low-permeability strata, ApolloTech integrated insights from numerous past projects and engaged in ongoing collaboration with academic institutions to develop cutting-edge remediation technologies. The innovations included three-dimensional smart characterization methods (SCM) enhanced by geophysical techniques, quantitative Polymerase Chain Reaction (qPCR) for biological monitoring, and surgical remediation  utilizing double-packer precision injection. These initiatives received endorsement from the Soil and Groundwater Pollution Remediation Fund Management Board (Ministry of Environment) to execute the Yongkang Groundwater Contamination Remediation Demonstration Project.

2015

Advanced Precision Remediation Technologies for Groundwater DNAPL Contamination

  • ApolloTech was selected to establish Taiwan's first full-scale soil washing treatment facility for mercury and dioxin contamination, following a competitive vendor selection process involving pilot tests at a contaminated site in southern Taiwan. Our successful implementation demonstrated our expertise in the field and gained significant recognition. Subsequently, ApolloTech was commissioned to conduct thermal desorption treatment for high-concentration contaminated soil, further refining the technology and enhancing operational capabilities.

2011

Full-scale Soil Washing Treatment Technology for Mercury and Dioxin Contamination

  • To address mercury contamination at an abandoned factory in northern Taiwan, ApolloTech established the nation’s first indirect thermal desorption rotary kiln for mercury onsite remediation. This project successfully achieved verification and delisting in 2013, leading to the transformation of the site into a residential area. It serves as a benchmark for successful land reuse following remediation efforts in Taiwan.

2010

Development of Thermal Desorption Technology for Mercury-Contaminated Soil

  • ApolloTech has been instrumental in developing sub-laws and management strategies to enhance the effectiveness of soil and groundwater remediation policies. A key focus has been the management and control of contaminated agricultural land, which is vital for safeguarding public health and ensuring food safety. Since 2002, ApolloTech has supported the Ministry of  Environment in systematically establishing a national inventory of potential pollution sources, conducting relevance analyses, and implementing methodical surveys and monitoring protocols for agricultural lands following remediation. This work has laid a solid foundation for the safety of agricultural production in Taiwan.

2002

Assisted in the Development of Sub-laws for Soil and Groundwater Contamination Remediation / National Agricultural Land Pollution Management

  • The Soil and Groundwater Pollution Remediation Act was enacted in February 2002.  It was the first comprehensive law in Asia to simultaneously address soil and groundwater pollution. Since then, the demand for soil and water investigation and remediation services has gradually increased, expanding ApolloTech’s client base from the Ministry of Environment, and state-owned enterprises to  municipal environmental protection bureaus, industrial clients, and gas stations.

2000

Soil and Groundwater Pollution Remediation Act Released for Implementation

  • The condition of land is critical to environmental integrity and health risks. In response to land pollution issues arising from industrial transformation and relocation, ApolloTech was founded with a mission to address soil and groundwater contamination. Despite the lack of regulatory frameworks at the time, ApolloTech was, and continues to be, committed to developing skilled personnel and pioneering technologies, establishing itself as one of Taiwan's earliest specialized teams in soil and water pollution remediation.
